Videophones and talking to people face to face is a very exciting development in technology. Although I have been aware of this technology for sometime now, I have been hesitant to adopt it or to begin using it. There are many reasons why, most of them revolve around the theme of vanity. "I wouldn't want someone to see me on a bad hair day", and other now seemingly ridiculous thoughts made me take my time to ever use a webcam or video phone.
Recently though, I bought a laptop with a built in webcam and all I can say is that everything has changed. Once my best friend knew that I had a camera on my laptop she insisted that I switch on my camera and have a video chat. Talking to my best friend through video conferencing has truly been a fun experience. In fact, whenever I look up at the video screen and see my best friend's teeth and her large smile, I just start laughing. It's wonderful! Watching her facial expressions as I tell her about my latest love interest has made video phoning priceless! I can definitely say that I am sold on it.
Using videophone technology has changed my life and my relationships. Although it is great to talk on the phone and to hear what your friends have to say, being able to see them and their facial expressions brings back memories, reminds you of the fullness of their personality and it provides an intimacy that you might not have had with them in a long time.
I find that video phones are best for use when talking with long-time friends or friends that you tend to chat with on a heart to heart level. I still have no desire to chat with new or recent friends on videophone, usually only with my close friends and family. With them, I rush to switch on the video phone.
Having left my home and crossed the Atlantic Ocean, I have been away from my family for many years. I can t even imagine why I resisted the idea of using a video phone for so many years. I am trying to talk my mother and my sister into also getting video phones so that we can have richer more meaningful conversations with each other.
Since I have had such a great experience using Skype video chat, I myself am on the market for a good video phone. The company that I have investigated the most and that I will probably end up choosing, is ACN beause of the conferencing video. The ACN Network is an international network and they offer quite an array of telephony services. They have mobile phone networks, landline services and a few other things. Right now though, I am just interested in having one of their video phones in my home.
